The arrival of three storms in four days was not enough to scupper the plans of the Island committee whose Ballycrystal fixture was the only Irish point-to-point meeting to survive last weekend, and it saw jockey Brian Lawless partner the sixth double of his career.

His brace was initiated when Ifeoinly upset two of her more fancied rivals, The Forge Hill and La Feline, in the Combined Garages mares’ open in what proved to a worthwhile trip from Athea for Limerick handler Eoin McCarthy.
