Ladies' man Yeats steals the show at Tattersalls Farm
It was a busy day at the Louth meeting at Tattersalls Farm on Sunday, where four-time Ascot Gold Cup winner Yeats dominated, siring three of the four races for the youngsters.
Yeats was responsible for the winner of both divisions of the mares' race, and that adds substance to a theory I've heard a lot of people talk about which is he is a particularly strong influence as a sire of fillies.
There's been plenty of evidence to support that theory on the track. Shattered Love, who won two Grade 1 chases last season and was second to Min in Sunday's John Durkan, is his biggest earner over jumps, and his second-biggest is Grade 1 novice hurdle winner Augusta Kate. A high proportion of his Flat winners have been fillies too.
