THE Route Harriers were a welcome addition to the calendar this autumn having not held a meeting since 2013. They have been on the move from their regular base at Limavady and raced 32km further north east at Portrush.

Racing at this seaside resort was last held in 1976 and, although that particular course has been built upon, a new venue was sourced only a few fields away to cater for Saturday’s action.

A large number of racegoers came to support the event and laid witness to an eyecatching winner in the Dennison Commercials four-year-old maiden when Finian’s Oscar took the honours in the colours of Edelle Logan.
