I'm relishing my Gold Cup ride on Edwulf, who means so much to me
I’ve been lucky enough to win the National Hunt Chase and the Foxhunter and would dearly love to complete the set of amateur races at the festival by riding the winner of tomorrow’s Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Handicap Chase.
Twelve months ago I went very close on Pendra for Charlie Longsdon, and I’m really looking forward to our attempt to go one better. Last year Charlie produced him in great shape on his first run since the previous season’s Grand National, and once again he makes his seasonal debut.
I thought we were a bit unlucky last year on account of the third-last fence being omitted. He’s a very good jumper and the long run between fences counted against him as Gina Andrews got a great response from Domesday Book to beat us by three-quarters of a length.
