The long countdown to the Cheltenham Festival is nearly over and I'm looking forward to seeing a host of ex-Irish pointers in action.

A number of expensive purchases will be putting their reputations on the line in the novice hurdles, Honeysuckle will be a short price to win a second Champion Hurdle, likewise Shishkin in the Champion Chase, and Minella Indo attempts to retain his Gold Cup crown.

I'm looking forward to riding another ex-point winner, last year's Albert Bartlett winner Vanillier, for Gavin Cromwell in the National Hunt Chase.
