Future looks bright as former Irish pointers steal the show at Cheltenham
Last week's Cheltenham Festival reflected a huge amount of credit on the Irish point-to-point scene, the highlights provided by the brilliant Honeysuckle and two of the most exciting prospects for the seasons ahead: Constitution Hill and Sir Gerhard.
Bob Olinger may have been fortunate, but we all know that jumping is the name of the game. He got on the scoresheet when handed the Turners Novices' Chase by the departure of Galopin Des Champs at the last.
Handicap winners Corach Rambler, Commander Of Fleet, Global Citizen and Banbridge all started life in Irish points, and we shouldn't forget the Mares' Novices' Hurdle winner Love Envoi, who won a point-to-point bumper for Sean Doyle at Wexford around this time last season.
