Fantastic to see Chosen Dream and O’Hare score in Hagan colours
I decided to give the North Down meeting at Kirkistown a miss, opting to go to Punchestown to ride in the bumper. I’m afraid it didn’t work quite as planned. That aside, I felt a little sorry for bypassing a fixture I’ve always enjoyed.
Still, I’m thrilled Chosen Dream won the Open for Graham McKeever in the colours of the late Peggy Hagan. I’ve ridden this fellow to half a dozen of his wins, and I know how much he and his stablemate Balnaslow meant to Peggy, who sadly passed away recently.
It must have been a bitter-sweet day for the family, but it’s great to see the tradition being carried on. Mark O’Hare steered him to a ten-length win after odds-on favourite Sambremont fell in the lead at the fourth-last.
