Hunt races may not be able to attract the same level of entries as in previous eras but there is no questioning their popularity.

Local owners and trainers, as well as many hunt committees, persevere with the races in spite of there being other races that could be financially more rewarding.

That stance has to be applauded and the attraction of these races was again made evident by the confined hunt winners’ race at the Tynan and Armagh point-to-point at Farmaclaffley on Saturday, a fixture that drew a crowd reported to be just short of 2,000.
