It was a notable 35 minutes for two graduates of Jerry Cosgrave’s yard at Galway on Sunday, with the Gordon Elliott-trained Mount Ida and Battleoverdoyen enjoying notable victories.

Mount Ida supplemented her Wexford bumper success with a four-length success in the opening maiden hurdle, 11 months since she opened her account for Cosgrave in a four-year-old mares’ maiden at Tattersalls Farm.

Battleoverdoyen could be the best horse to emerge from Banbridge stables since the 1990 Grade 1 Christmas Hurdle winner Fidway, who was sold after winning a Downpatrick bumper less than two years earlier.
