It was great to see Champagne Fever, one of the leading graduates of Irish point-to-points in recent seasons, return to the winner’s enclosure at Thurles on Thursday when claiming the Listed Boomerang Animal Bedding and Boomerang Horse & Country Store Chase in battling fashion.

The Stowaway gelding made a winning pointing debut in April 2011 when taking a four-year-old maiden at Quakerstown by 10 lengths for his then owner and trainer Roisin Hickey.

She was adamant at the time this was a future Grade 1 winner, a statement which was vindicated by his four successes at the highest level.
