The Irish contingent contesting Friday’s St James’s Place Foxhunter Chase will be a small but select team after the scratching of Coastal Tiep at Saturday’s six-day stage left seven Irish in the mix.

The chief hopes in a bid to prevent a fourth consecutive victory in the race for British runners are two relatively new names on the hunter chase scene in Billaway and Staker Wallace.

The former won his maiden at Ballinaboola in February 2018, the same fixture which produced festival contenders Envoi Allen and Appreciate It.
