Bartlett has another powerhouse in Manetti
A double for Northern-title leader Noel McParlan was initiated when odds-on favourite Manetti ran out a six-length winner of the Albert Bartlett five-year-old geldings’ maiden.
The imposing Westerner gelding is out of the tough black-type mare Mrs Wallensky, a winner of a bumper for Willie Mullins and two hurdles for Paul Nolan. Trained by Ian Ferguson, Manetti finished six lengths ahead of Hollybank King. Shumaker had been disputing the lead when falling at the last, making the task easier for McParlan’s mount.
The Ronnie Bartlett-owned gelding is closely related to Minella Foru, a winner of four races for Eddie Harty, including the Grade Two Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown.
