'It turned into a procession' - Win My Wings boosts Williams staying reputation
What looked like a competitive running of the Coral Scottish Grand National was turned into a procession by the Christian Williams-trained Win My Wings (155+), who took over from runner-up Kitty's Light (150) as the stable's leading horse on RPRs.
The trainer, who achieved another notable one-two with Cap Du Nord and Kitty's Light in the valuable Coral Trophy Handicap Chase at Kempton on the same February afternoon that saw Win My Wings land Newcastle's Eider Chase, is justifiably building up a reputation as something of a specialist.
The extent to which the stable has become associated with staying chasers is underlined by the fact that the trainer's seven leading horses on RPRs all posted their best figures over fences in races over 3m or further. With both Cap Du Nord and Five Star Getaway reportedly heading for Aintree and Win My Wings, Kitty's Light and Cap Du Nord holding entries in Sandown's Bet365 Gold Cup, there could be more big paydays to come.
