Arc calendar move would benefit Champions Day says Ascot chief
Track intrigued by Delloye comments but suggests big day not up for review
Moving the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe forward by a week would be beneficial to British Champions Day according to Ascot's director of racing Nick Smith, who said the date of the track's £4 million Flat season finale is not under review.
Smith was responding to Tuesday's Racing Post exclusive in which France Galop's chief executive Olivier Delloye voiced an openness to consider an earlier slot for the Arc to reduce the risk of heavy ground at Longchamp.
Europe's most prestigious Flat race, won by German outsider Torquator Tasso, was run on heavy ground for the second year in a row, while very soft was the going description in 2019.
