Arc could move forward to combat growing prospect of heavy ground at Longchamp

The prospect of moving the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe forward by a week was raised on Tuesday after Europe's greatest Flat race, won by Torquator Tasso, took place for the third year in succession on heavy or very soft ground last weekend.

Olivier Delloye, France Galop chief executive, said he recognised the desire for the fixture to be run on better ground and added that he believed running the fixture on the final weekend in September could benefit British Champions Day without adversely affecting Irish Champions Weekend.
