Filly's value increases by 13,000 per cent in six months with sensational sale at Tattersalls Ireland

"We can go home now," Anthony Stroud joked after signing for Brown Island Stables' Cotai Glory filly at €165,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze-Up Sale but if anyone was entitled to a mic drop moment at Fairyhouse on Friday morning it was consignor Johnny Collins.

The shrewd vendor snapped up the filly, out of Distorted Humor mare Bourbon Edition, for just €1,200 at the Goffs Autumn Sale from Oghill House Stud so six months in the Cork air and the fifth-fastest breeze up the Fairyhouse straight increased her value by an astounding 13,650 per cent.

"It's great to get a pleasant surprise, you get plenty of unwelcome ones although we were hopeful of her breeze coming here," Collins remarked after watching his fast filly attract lots of bids from around the ring.

Collins spotted something in the filly, as did Kevin and Clodagh Mitchell of Phillistown House Stud who bought her for €5,000 as a foal at the Tattersalls Ireland Sapphire Sale from Timmy Hillman's Castledillon Stud, and that something became obvious to everyone watching her gallop at Fairyhouse on Thursday.

"I guess I was just in the right place at the right time when I bought her. She was a lovely, straightforward and very uncomplicated filly. I'm delighted with that and she's gone to a great home," he added.

The next time she will be seen on a racecourse the chestnut will carry the colours of Shaikh Duaij Al Khalifa for whom Anthony Stroud bought Arabian Dusk at last year's Craven Breeze-Up Sale. The 525,000gns purchase contests tomorrow's Sandy Lane Stakes and last year's Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes winner is trained by the Crisfords but Stroud said that no decision on a trainer for this filly has been made.

"She did a very good breeze and is a very well-balanced filly who comes from a very good consignor. Johnny is such a great person and I'm hoping she will be a good horse," the agent said.

Foaled on February 28, the chestnut comes from a classy German family. Her second dam, Salonsun, is a Monsun full-sister to Listed winner Monblue and a half-sister to Listed winners Salonlove and Salon Soldier. Salonsun is also a half-sister to Saloon Gold, the second dam of Camelot's 2022 Deutsches Derby winner Sammarco, who was also successful at the highest level in the Bayerisches Zuchtrennen.

Third dam Salonblue was a Listed winner and is a half-sister to Curragh Cup victor Peppertree Lane.

She was the first of Collins' four horses through the ring on Friday and when asked about the remainder he mentioned the Victor Ludorum colt (Lot 208) out of Siyounow as a potential highlight later in the day.

He duly made €85,000 to Jono Mills on behalf of Rabbah Bloodstock.
