Multiple Group-winning sprinter A’Ali has been retired from racing and will stand for the 2022 breeding season at Catherine and Robert Dallas’ Meadow Farm Stud.

Robert Dallas said: “We’re delighted to acquire a horse of A’Ali’s quality at Meadow Farm Stud, he’s a four-time Group 2-winning sprinter, including at Royal Ascot, and trained on at three.

"He’s a fantastic-looking horse with a lovely temperament, he’s correct and powerful with a great walk, so I think when breeders come to view him in December they’ll be very excited."

In a deal brokered by Anthony Stroud, it was confirmed that racing owner Sheikh Duaij [Al Khalifa] has retained an interest in the horse and will be supporting him with his own band of broodmares. The high-class son of the late Society Rock will be available to view by breeders next month in Newmarket and should command plenty of attention at the Wiltshire stud.

A’Ali was a precocious and talented juvenile for Simon Crisford, winning the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot on his second start.

He went on to further honours in the Prix Robert Papin before subsequently adding a win in the Flying Childers Stakes and then running in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint at Santa Anita.

The colt won Sandown’s Coral Charge on his second start at three, before winning the Sapphire Stakes and finishing fourth in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes to Battaash.

A’Ali is the second foal out of the Motivator mare Motion Lass, a placed half-sister to Group 3 Darley Stakes scorer and two-time Group 1 placed and Coronation Cup third Enforcer.

Simon and Ed Crisford paid tribute, saying: “A’Ali was a good-looking,
powerful and precocious sprinter, who won three Group 2s at two,
including the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. He trained on at three to win two more Group races over five furlongs.

“He always showed a lot of speed which, combined with his great turn of foot and his wonderful temperament, provide him with all the attributes to become a successful stallion.”

Frankie Dettori, who partnered A’Ali to four wins, added: “He was a top- class sprinter and certainly one of the fastest two-year-olds I have ridden. He travelled very well in his races and had push-button acceleration, which made my life easy.

“I was lucky enough to ride both Mehmas and Ardad and A’Ali must have a top chance of replicating their success at stud.”

A’Ali will stand the 2022 season for a fee of £7,500. For further information please contact Meadow Farm Stud at office@meadowfarmstud.co.uk.
