Whitsbury Manor keeping fees grounded for 2022 as Showcasing heads fine roster

Whitsbury Manor Stud has released its fees for its five-strong roster for 2022, headed by leading sire Showcasing who will stand for an unchanged fee of £45,000.

The stalwart son of Oasis Dream is the sire of 26 individual Group winners from 110 stakes performers overall, including Group 1 scorers Advertise, Quiet Reflection and Mohaather.

Among his leading performers this year are exciting Richmond Stakes winner and Prix Morny third Asymmetric, Grade 1 Gamely Stakes third Bodhicitta and stakes winners Panama Red and Urgent Appeal.

Ed Harper, director of Whitsbury Manor Stud, said: "Once again he’s had a great year on the track as Britain’s leading sire of two-year-olds. His results have also translated through to the sales ring as he achieved more six-figure yearling sales this year at Book 1 and 2 than ever before.”

Sergei Prokofiev was the most popular first-season sire in Britain this year, covering 154 mares, and will be available for a slightly reduced £6,000, from £6,500 in 2021.

Harper said of the Group 3-winning son of Scat Daddy: "I can honestly say no Whitsbury stallion has ever had a stronger start in terms of numbers and quality."

Havana Grey's first crop of yearlings have been received very well in the sales rings, with a colt out of Exrating selling to Richard Ryan for £110,000 at the Goffs UK Premier Yearling Sale, and the son of Havana Grey will again stand for £6,000.

Harper continued: "We could not have asked for a better response to
his first crop of yearlings. They’ve impressed at the sales, now they just have to do the same on the track."

Due Diligence and Adaay, the latter represented by his first black-type winners in Prix de Cabourg scorer Have A Good Day and Prix Zeddaan winner Honey Sweet, will both stand at £5,000.

Harper said of the operation's roster: "Following last year’s downward adjustment of our fees due to Covid-19 we have decided to keep our fees similar to last year.

"We are delighted that so many of our clients have had great success at the sales and feel it’s important to maintain value commercial stallion options for breeders."
