Preview

Denmark’s National Speedway Stadium in Vojens plays host to round eight of this year’s fascinating Grand Prix series.

With the circuit not having hosted Grand Prix action since 2014, this will be the first time many riders will have competed on Vojens’ famous slick shale.

Add to the fact that practice and qualifying was cancelled on Friday due to adverse weather conditions, a good bike set-up during the early stages of the meeting will be imperative.

Joint-leaders Leon Madsen and Bartosz Zmarzlik look set for a titanic tussle in their bid to become world champion and rightly head the betting for this event, but Zmarzlik’s Polish compatriot Maciej Janowski may prove a touch of each-way value.

Janowski’s title credentials were dealt a huge blow at the start of the season due to an untimely arm injury ruling him out of the opening round in Warsaw, but he may now be eyeing a podium finish with three rounds remaining after winning the German GP in commanding fashion last week.

The Pole has been a model of consistency in recent events, chalking up 56 points in the last four rounds – seven more points than the second most in-form rider – and he’s clearly riding at the top of his game.

Having top-scored for Dackarna in their recent victory over Vastervik in the Swedish Elitserien semi-final, Janowski looks the one to side with as he continues his quest to soar up the championship table.
