German Grand Prix preview

Mikkel Michelsen endured a difficult evening in Prague last week but can bounce straight back with a positive result in Teterow on Saturday.

The Dane registered only four points from five outings in the Czech capital but he was disadvantaged by the draw which provided him with two outside gates and he shaped a bit better than the bare result suggests.

Michelsen, who started the campaign with a highly encouraging third in Croatia, was also fighting for a spot on the rostrum in Warsaw before being controversially excluded after colliding with countryman Leon Madsen in the final.

Nevertheless, he’s the only rider alongside Maciej Janowski to have reached the final in two of the three rounds and he remains a man to be reckoned with on the world stage.

His lack of track experience in Teterow is a slight concern but gating is often paramount around the Bergring Arena and the reigning European champion is reliable in that department.

Martin Vaculik and Jason Doyle are tricky riders to predict but both made a welcome return to form last week, boast previous Teterow success, and should be in the mix again.
