Match preview

Unai Emery's struggles with the English language are rumoured to be partly responsible for his lack of authority in the Arsenal dressing-room but the under-fire Spaniard could have a rare good evening - or should that be ebening - at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester's transition from the Premier League's best of the rest outside of the big six to the best of the rest outside of the top two is complete in the eyes of many and the flying Foxes were odds-on to overcome Arsenal in places earlier this week.

That price has drifted slightly but it may not have gone far enough as Brendan Rodgers' side go in search of a victory which would move them above Manchester City into second spot.

Leicester, fresh from an impressive away win at Crystal Palace and the remarkable 9-0 demolition of Southampton, deserve respect - and they are getting it from bookmakers given the corresponding fixture last season saw both sides available at 17-10.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles's early red card contributed to a 3-0 Leicester win, with all of their goals coming in the second half.

It's a trend which has continued this term with Leicester's second-half goal difference at plus 15. As space opens up that is when Youri Tielemans and James Maddison link up best with Jamie Vardy.

Red-hot Vardy, who once turned down the opportunity to join Arsenal, leads the Premier League scoring charts with ten goals, around double the tally he should have according to expected-goals figures.

That streak will be difficult to sustain for much longer and despite being a renowned slayer of the elite clubs, Vardy has failed to net against any of the previously established big six this season.

And Leicester have not been as slick in those fixtures as a team either. They drew at Chelsea and barely created an opportunity in defeats at Manchester United and Liverpool.

Even the home triumph over Tottenham owed a little to good fortune with Spurs having a goal disallowed on an extremely tight VAR offside call when leading 1-0 before Leicester lived up to their stereotype of finishing strongly.

Leicester, fresh, energetic and well coached, are arguably everything Arsenal lack under Emery. However, the Gunners remain fifth and have suffered just two league defeats this season.

Given the gloomy Emirates environment there is a theory it may be slightly easier for Arsenal to play on the road where their more loyal supporters tend to get behind the players.

Arsenal have scored in ten of their 11 Premier League away matches and it should be a clean sweep but for Pepe's inexcusable miss in the 1-0 loss at Sheffield United.

New Gunners captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has notched eight times in the league and they will always have a chance with the firepower of the Gabon goal machine and Alexandre Lacazette.

Key stat

The teams' last four meetings have produced 18 goals.
