Carlos Carvalhal made the perfect start to life as Swansea manager as his team claimed two late goals at Watford to climb off the bottom of the Premier League.

Goals from Jordan Ayew and substitute Luciano Narsingh were enough to hand the Swans their fourth win of the season and meant West Brom head into today’s home match against Arsenal in 20th spot.

The Welsh side, who host Tottenham on Tuesday, are still 4-6 favourites with Betfred and Betfair to finish bottom while Alan Pardew’s Baggies are 5-1.

West Ham slipped into the bottom three after Bournemouth claimed a 2-1 victory over Everton.

Chelsea claimed their seventh successive home league win with a 5-0 thumping of Stoke, whose manager Mark Hughes was last night evens favourite to be the next top-flight manager to lose his job.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah moved to within one goal of Golden Boot leader Harry Kane as he grabbed a brace in the Reds’ 2-1 win over Leicester.

Manchester United were held to a goalless draw at home by Southampton.
