Thursday's Europa League predictions

Union Saint-Gilloise have been one of the most progressive teams in European football in recent years and they look likely to battle it out with Toulouse to chase home Liverpool in Group E of the Europa League.

They host Austrian side LASK looking to get their first win of the group stage after losing 2-0 to Jurgen Klopp’s men and drawing 1-1 with Toulouse.

Union SG’s domestic performances have been dominant and they can carry that form over into this continental clash.

The hosts have won four of their last five league games by at least two goals and could overcome a goal deficit against LASK, who have eight first-team players missing through injury.

By contrast Union will welcome striker Dennis Eckert, who has five goals in six games this season, back from injury and his return could help them to a convincing victory.

Roma have put a disappointing start to the season behind them to win four games on the spin but they face a tough test when they host Slavia Prague on Thursday.

These two teams look likely to battle it out for top spot in Group G after securing dominant victories over Servette and Sheriff Tiraspol respectively.

Jose Mourinho’s side will also take confidence from the fact that they have secured four wins to nil in a row at home.

Romelu Lukaku could prove the difference between these two sides. He has seven goals in nine appearances since his summer move to Roma and his Europa League record is second to none.

The Belgian has 22 goals in 35 appearances in this competition and could add to that tally here.
