Betting preview

Reading v Swansea

Swansea still have an outside chance of pinching a Sky Bet Championship playoff place and they can keep their hopes alive with victory at Reading.

The Swans are relying on Welsh rivals Cardiff to lose at home to hapless Hull, but they should at least be able to deliver their part of the deal against a Reading side who have suffered consecutive league losses against Middlesbrough and Blackburn.

The Royals have won just one of their last 13 home assignments, losing six of their last ten at the Madejski - only Hull are less productive on their own patch.

Reading have been held to draws by Stoke and Huddersfield and suffered defeats against Brentford and Middlesbrough in four home games since the season resumed and they may be silenced by the Swans, who have lost only four times in 22 games on their travels.

Steve Cooper’s crew have recorded wins over Boro, Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham in the last month, showing an aptitude for overcoming opposition they are expected to account for, and they have more motivation to claim maximum points than Reading.

Sheffield Wednesday v Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough have won three of their four away league games since Neil Warnock took over, recording wins at Stoke, Millwall and Reading, and they look good enough to claim all three points at Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls have won only two of their last nine league games and they are conceding goals at an alarming rate.

Garry Monk’s side shipped five in defeat at Fulham last time out and prior to that they had been breached three times in home reverses with West Brom and Preston. Boro, armed with Ashley Fletcher and Britt Assombalonga in attack, may capitalise.
