Wawrinka may not run away with desert semi-final

Carreno Busta's game is still improving on fast courts

There is an unlikely last-four match-up in the top half of the ATP Indian Wells Masters with Stan Wawrinka taking on Pablo Carreno Busta for a place in Sunday's final.

Wawrinka, a 20-1 chance ante-post, is no stranger to making the most of things when Andy Murray, who was the top seed in the California desert, comes up short.

But Carreno Busta was available at 300-1 with each-way bookmakers before the action started at the Tennis Garden and it's a huge day for anyone who has backed the Spaniard to reach the final.

Carreno Busta had never made the last eight of a Masters 1,000 Series tournament, let alone the last four, so it's no surprise to see that the layers expect Wawrinka's class, higher rank and greater experience to tell.

But 2-7 looks a bit short to take about a player in the autumn of his career and considering Galician Carreno Busta is still improving on fast courts, the best bet could be to go over 20.5 games at 8-11.

Martina Hingis and Yung-Jan Chan are 4-7 to lift the women's doubles trophy with a victory over 11-8 Czech final opponents Lucie Hradecka and Katerina Siniakova.

Recommendation
Over 20.5 games in P Carreno Busta v S Wawrinka
1pt 8-11 Betway
