Jared Donaldson booked his place in the fourth round of the ATP Miami Open courtesy of Milos Raonic’s withdrawal but the improving American's tournament is likely to come to an end against compatriot Jack Sock.

Donaldson possesses plenty of potential and is expected to shoot up the rankings in time but silencing Sock, who is level with Grigor Dimitrov, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Dominic Thiem for most match wins this season, should be too steep an ask.

Sock has thrived on the hard courts in this season’s early exchanges, highlighted by title triumphs in the ASB Classic and at Delray Beach, and he was a convincing straight-sets winner under the lights against Jiri Vesely in the last round.

Donaldson is respected but Sock, who is up to a career-high 17th in the world, has the edge in experience and can lead the American charge in Miami.

Rafael Nadal recovered from a set down to defeat Philipp Kohlschreiber on Sunday and the Spaniard is a red-hot favourite to defeat Frenchman Nicolas Mahut in his fourth-round clash.

Recommendation
J Sock to win 2-0
