Simona Halep, the favourite for the French Open which starts on Sunday, says she has only a 50-50 chance of being fit for Roland Garros.

The Romanian, ranked fourth in the world, tore an ankle ligament during her Italian International final defeat to Elina Svitolina in Rome last Sunday.

Halep, who found only Maria Sharapova too good at Roland Garros in 2014, has been eased to 9-2 from 4-1 to claim a maiden Grand Slam.

She said: "I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Doctors say it's 50-50 at the moment but things have improved since Sunday."

It's quarter-final day in the ATP tournaments in Geneva and Lyon and the WTA events in Strasbourg and Nuremberg, but the best bet of the day could be an interest on Kateryna Kozlova to end Ipek Soylu's hopes of qualifying for the French Open.

Kozlova is a Ukrainian with plenty of potential - she has been unfortunate not to lift a WTA main-tour title in the last 18 months - while Soylu looks a limited performer.

Eurosport 2 are showing live coverage of the Roland Garros qualifiers from 9am.
