Fifth Test report - England win by 135 runs

England squared their Ashes series against Australia 2-2 with a 135-run fifth Test victory inside four days at the Oval.

Australia dug in after reaching tea at 167-5 chasing 399 for victory, Matthew Wade top-scoring with 117, but no other batsman managed more than 24.

Stuart Broad earlier claimed the key wicket of Steve Smith for just 23. He and Jack Leach took four wickets each to seal the victory.

A drawn series had been a 7-1 chance at the outset.

Racing Post Sport's James Milton tipped both teams' top series runscorers in our preview, with Ben Stokes (8-1) leading the way for England with 441 and Smith (2-1) scoring 774 for Australia.

Stuart Broad (11-2) was England's top wicket-taker with 23, one ahead of Jofra Archer, while 12-5 favourite Pat Cummins topping the table for the Aussies with 29.
