Steve Smith has dominated England's bowlers during the Ashes series but the Australia captain was overshadowed by his fellow batsmen on day three of the fifth Test in Sydney.

Moeen Ali denied Smith a fourth century in the series, dismissing him for 83, but Usman Khawaja (171) and the Marsh brothers made light of that setback to steer the Aussies to 479-4 by the close.

Australia, who lead by 133 runs with six first-innings wickets remaining, are 1-7 to win the Test and complete a 4-0 series victory. England are 80-1 with the draw 6-1.

The hosts were advised at 10-11 on racingpost.com/sport to score over 489.5 first-innings runs and another 11 runs on the fourth morning would see that bet land.

Shaun Marsh (98 not out) and his younger brother Mitchell (63 not out) will have grander ambitions than that, however, as Australia bid to extend their lead before having a final crack at England's batsmen.

Bet365 go 13-10 that Mitchell Marsh scores his second century of the series while Shaun is the same price to make over 140.5 runs.

Both wickets to fall on day three were taken by spinners, with Moeen getting rid of Smith before debutant Mason Crane had Khawaja stumped by Jonny Bairstow.

Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon is likely to be a major threat in the fourth innings, especially against England's left-handers, but the right-handed Joe Root looks a big price to score a fifty the second time around.

England's captain has been criticised for failing to convert starts into match-defining centuries but he made second-innings fifties in Brisbane and Adelaide and scored a classy 83 in the first innings of this match.
