| Swerved right start, soon went mid-division, weakened 5th (jockey said regarding running and riding that his instructions were to sit mid-field and to obtain the best possible placing. He added that the gelding was unruly at the start, a fact which he reported at scales and surrendered many lengths when veering sharply right-handed after the tape was released. He further added that due to the slow early pace and the fact that the gelding ran freely he was quickly able to catch the field up and obtain a mid-field position on settling. However, the gelding became outpaced from half way down the back straight and did not respond to his urgings when the tempo increased and he felt the gelding had stayed on at the one pace, passing tired horses in the home straight.
