gr g Dark Angel (IRE) - Aqualina (IRE) (King's Theatre)
Mid-division, headway over 4f out, weakened well over 1f out (The Stewards held an enquiry into the running and riding of the gelding, who was settled midfield before appearing to be tenderly ridden in the home straight to finish eighth, beaten 27 lengths. The Stewards interviewed the rider and the trainer. The rider stated that his instructions were to jump the gelding out, get into a rhythm and finish in the best position he could. He further stated that the gelding ran very freely in the first three furlongs and having asked for an effort between 5f and 3f out the gelding became tired and, in his opinion, was reluctant to let itself down on the ground. The trainer stated that he was satisfied with the ride the jockey gave the gelding before adding that he has been a very headstrong type at home, and in future they would look to campaign him on softer ground.)
