Always towards rear, tailed off (jockey said, regarding running and riding, his instructions were to drop gelding in, get him to settle and give him daylight at the hurdles; on his previous start over hurdles at Chepstow, gelding had raced freely and jumped deliberately; jockey further explained that gelding again jumped deliberate on occasions in early stages, before gaining confidence throughout the race; he added that on leaving back straight he became momentarily caught behind a weakening rival, before obtaining clear running to his inside once rail stopped, whereupon he slowly improved his placing whilst passing tired horses; trainer's rep confirmed instructions and stated he was satisfied with ride, agreeing that gelding was still green, learning his job and would in future benefit from a combination of a step up in trip and softer going; he did though state that it was trainer's intention to run gelding again in the near future) (op 80/1)
