Chased leaders, not fluent 2nd, not fluent 13th, disputed lead 16th, led 17th, pushed along before 3 out, ridden before 2 out, headed approaching last, no extra after last, eased and lost two places final strides (jockey was asked to explain his riding on the run to the line where he appeared to slightly ease in the final strides. He explained that having got to the front towards the end of the back straight, the gelding started to stop quickly approaching the final fence and continued to do so on the run to the line. Jockey further added that due to the speed at which he was slowing, he felt it appropriate to put his whip down and to push the gelding hands and heels to the line, whereupon the two runners to his inside, who were finishing fast, were able to pass the gelding) (op 17/2 tchd 9/1)
