Midfield, headway and in touch with leaders before 4th, went second before 3 out, chased clear leader before 2 out, kept on well run-in, no match for winner (op 5/4 tchd 6/4)
Towards rear, struggling after 5th, rallied and some headway from 3 out, never dangerous (jockey said, regarding running and riding, that his instructions were to drop in and settle gelding, as gelding had previously raced keenly and to do his best; he explained that his mount relaxed well and, having jumped 1st two flights of hurdles, gelding then came off the bridle due to strong gallop and became slightly detached; he then added that gelding made a couple of errors at 1st two hurdles in back straight before latching on to main body of runners as they entered home straight; it was at this point he felt he was only staying on at the same pace passing tired horse and,, in his opinion, had obtained best possible placing)
Didn't jump well, took keen hold, in touch with leaders, led and went clear before 4th, mistake and much reduced lead 5th, headed 4 out, lost ground quickly before 3 out, tailed off (jockey said gelding ran too free) (op 9/1)
Prominent on inner, lost ground and dropped to midfield before 4th, lost touch before 4 out, tailed off when pulled up before 3 out (vet reported gelding was showing signs of post-race heat stress) (op 22/1 tchd 40/1)
