Took keen hold early, jumped right 1st 3, chased leaders until lost place after 6th, nudged along fr 3 out, kept on steadily (vet said mare had a slight wound on its left fore and had also lost its right fore shoe. The rider stated that his instructions were to jump the mare off handy and get her settled and jumping in the early stages. He added that she ran very keenly and jumped sharply to the right over the first few hurdles. He further added that he was keen to ensure that the mare finished the race as well as possible and therefore delayed his effort until the home straight. The trainer confirmed the instructions, adding that he instructed the rider not to use his whip unless in serious contention for prize money. He also added that following her previous run at Catterick he was concerned that she may not quite stay the trip. Their explanations were noted) (tchd 50/1)
