Towards rear, some modest headway after 3 out (The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of the gelding. J. P. O'Sullivan, stated that his instructions were to settle his mount towards the rear and get him to finish the race out well. He added that the horse ran freely and jumped big and deliberately. He also stated that the horse made a noise in the back straight P.J. Rothwell, confirmed the instructions and stated that the horse can be very tricky in the preliminaries and difficult to settle. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that Jimmyjames was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered, however the rider was cautioned to be seen to be more forceful in future. He was also cautioned concerning his future responsibilities to report at the first instance, anything that may have affected the running of a horse.)
