He stated that he tried to jump off in the middle of the field but his mount became crowded at the start and found himself squeezed back through the field into last early on, adding that the gelding made a mistake at about halfway and was flat out at all stages of the race; trainer said, regarding running and riding, that initially he was satisfied that his rider had tried to carry out his instructions, adding that the gelding was quite slow, however, having viewed a video recording of the race he was of the opinion that the rider had not carried out his instructions and should have ridden more vigourously in the latter stages of the race; vet said gelding was post race normal; trainer said gelding had sore shins post race)
