Towards rear for most, never a factor (jockey said, regarding the running and riding, he intended to drop gelding towards the rear, get him switched off and to do his best. He was conscious that he bolted at Kilbeggan when fitted with blinkers and had also some heat in a leg following that run. In running he jumped off five or six lengths further back than he intended but gelding settled quickly. He made a mistake at the 2nd and thereon kept changing his legs. Despite being squeezed along the top on the second circuit he was unable to race any faster. He added that the downhill run was firm and consquently he minded his charge which was now off the bridle. He said he left the horse alone in the straight as the race was gone at that stage. He was of the impression that any pressure applied to the gelding would not have resulted in him finishing any closer. Vet said gelding lost a hind shoe in running, knocked into himself and was sore in front post-race.) | ||||||||||
