Champion jockey Oisin Murphy is unlikely to appeal against the seven-day ban he picked up for careless riding at Ayr on Monday, ruling him out of next month's St Leger meeting and Irish Champions Weekend.

Murphy rode odds-on favourite Tiritomba to victory in the mile maiden but the filly hung left in the closing stages, causing the Paul Mulrennan-ridden Ricksen to clip heels with her. The ban will run from September 7-13.

Murphy said: "The BHA and the appeals board tend to be united on these sorts of incidents and there's a strong case that if the stewards on the day thought I was guilty and worthy of a seven-day suspension the appeals board will as well.
