'We've said our piece' - O'Leary holds fire over Tiger Roll Grand National bid

Gigginstown’s Eddie O’Leary has had plenty to say in the wake of Tuesday’s unveiling of the Grand National weights, just not about second top weight Tiger Roll.

O'Leary has been accused of pressurising the handicapper over what mark he and his brother Michael believe would be acceptable for the 11-year-old to shoulder in his bid to equal Red Rum’s record of three Grand National victories. O’Leary suggests a rating of 166 is enough to rule Tiger Roll out of the Randox-sponsored spectacular, but stresses no decision will be made until the next forfeit stage.

He explained: “We would have assumed they'd have given the horse some bit of a chance but they chose not to, so that’s grand.”
