'We want to run' - prospect of rain tilts L'Homme Presse team towards Aintree

One of the key questions occupying minds in advance of this week's Grand National meeting at Aintree looks to have been answered after Andy Edwards, the co-owner of brilliant Cheltenham winner L'Homme Presse, indicated on Sunday that the lights are green for a bid to back up in Friday's Betway Mildmay Novices' Chase (2.55).

That could mean a rematch with the runner-up from the Brown Advisory at the festival Ahoy Senor – a wide-margin Grade 1 winner at Aintree over hurdles 12 months ago – as well as a first meeting with Bravemansgame, who was one of a number of horses trainer Paul Nicholls withdrew at Cheltenham as persistent rain got into the ground.

"We are very much leaning towards going to Aintree on Friday," said Edwards, who sourced the seven-year-old son of Diamond Boy in France and who shares ownership with Peter and Patricia Pink.
