Two Charles Byrnes-trained horses have been entered for races this weekend in the care of trainer William O'Doherty, with 2020 Dublin Racing Festival scorer Thosedaysaregone declared for a 2m qualified riders' handicap at Dundalk on Friday.

O'Doherty, whose address on the Horse Racing Ireland website – like Byrnes' – is listed in Ballingarry, County Limerick, has sent out two winners under rules since taking out his licence in June 2008.

Byrnes' six-month suspension in the wake of the Viking Hoard saga begins on Thursday, running until September 3. During that period he will be prohibited from holding a trainer's licence but not disqualified from working in racing.

Premier handicap winner on the Flat and Grade A hurdle scorer Wonder Laish also appeared among the entries for a 2m2f conditions hurdle at Leopardstown on Sunday.

Both runners appear to still be owned by their existing connections, Byrnes Bloodstock Limited and Martin White respectively, according to the HRI website.

O'Doherty, who has also sent out point-to-point winners in recent years, last enjoyed success under rules with Jump For Dough at Cork in May 2017.

In the last six jumps seasons, he has twice sent out 13 runners and five starters or less in each of the remaining four years. The same HRI site suggests he is a restricted trainer, licensed to train no more than four horses.

Last Thursday's HRI calendar supplement, which outlines racing notices each week, showed a new four-year-old gelding registration for the suspended trainer's Byrnes Bloodstock Limited named No Deterrent.

Byrnes has yet to outline plans for his runners during his suspension and did not speak with the press after Light Brigade provided him with a winner at Naas on Sunday.

O'Doherty was unavailable for comment when contacted by the Racing Post on Tuesday afternoon.
