Doubt over Towcester's future continues after the BHA cancelled the course's October 9 fixture.

Towcester went into administration in August last year with no racing taking place at the course since then and little information forthcoming on the prospect of action returning.

The BHA confirmed a replacement for Towcester's lost fixture would take place at Wincanton on the same date, with an announcement on the track's meetings for November 28 and December 19 to come.

A statement read: "The BHA has today confirmed Towcester’s fixture on Wednesday, October 9 has been cancelled, and that a new fixture will take place at Wincanton on the same date.

"Further updates regarding the two remaining fixtures scheduled for Towcester in 2019 will be issued in due course."

The publication of the 2020 fixture list had offered some hope racing could return to the Northamptonshire track next year, with the course's meetings not included and not yet distributed elsewhere.

The course, where Sir Anthony McCoy famously rode his 4,000th winner, was also home of the English Greyhound Derby in 2017-18.

After the track collapsed into administration last year, administrators revealed assets required for racing, including the ten fixtures, had been sold to Fermor Land LLP, a company linked to course chairman Lord Hesketh.
