Three interesting runners to note under lights at Kempton
There's an eight-race card at Kempton to keep all-weather fans happy on Monday evening. Here are three runners worth noting.
5.40 Kempton
Broughton Excels was well backed to get off the mark over course and distance this month and he made no mistake, winning in the style of a horse who could defy a 5lb higher mark.
That victory was achieved on just Broughton Excel's sixth start, and only his second for trainer Stuart Williams, so the three-year-old clearly has the potential to rate higher.
The booking of man-of-the-moment Oisin Murphy is also a positive.
Desirous
6.40 Kempton
Desirous has improved with each run and looks to have been found a decent opportunity to land a first success.
By Kingman out of Group 1 winner Emulous, Desirous is bred to be talented and was arguably slightly unlucky not to win at Newmarket last month as her rider appeared briefly to drop his reins at a crucial point.
She showed a good attitude under pressure, however, and better is to come.
Hombre Casado
8.40 Kempton
This is a good-quality handicap, in which several can be given a chance, but Hombre Casado caught the eye when going close over a mile here last month and makes appeal over a trip which promises to suit.
That Kempton second was Hombre Casado's first run after a gelding operation and was also his best, according to Racing Post Ratings. He travelled noticeably well, hitting the front on the bridle at the two pole, and a drop to seven furlongs could lead to an improved showing.
