They're the most red-hot trainers in Britain - who do they have running today?
Finding winners is a complicated business but sometimes it does pay to keep things simple, and one straightforward method is to follow the most in-form trainers.
Whether it is on the Flat or over jumps, these are the trainers with the best strike-rate (from six runners or more) in the last two weeks in Britain – and their best chances of continuing a great run today.
54 per cent strike-rate (15 winners from 28 runners)
The father-and-son combination are in tremendous form this week with five winners from their last six runners – the only loser was a 12-1 chance.
Positive Impact is their only runner of the day in a valuable mile handicap (4.01) at Thirsk. He was beaten only narrowly beaten last time and first-time cheekpieces are fitted.
Key runner: Positive Impact (4.01 Thirsk)
Upwardly mobile this season in some strong handicaps and didn't do a lot wrong at Chester two weeks ago (under Harry Burns); it's never going to be easy off this mark but plenty in his favour otherwise.
Ben Pauling
50 per cent (4-8)
Ben Pauling has a new training facility and has enjoyed a flying start to the jumps season.
Pencreek faces just one rival in his quest to record a fourth win on the bounce in Stratford's 2m3½f novice handicap chase (1.49). It promises to be an intriguing match race with Geromino arriving in excellent form.
Key runner:Pencreek (1.49 Stratford)
Unbeaten in three starts since cheekpieces went on, one of them over C&D; has climbed the handicap at a pace but hard not to be impressed with the ease of his latest two wins.
With form figures of 2112112 since last Saturday, it is fair to say the McCain stable are flying. There is no reason why the excellent form will stop either, with his three runners at Stratford are priced at no bigger than 5-2.
Geromino takes on Pencreek and seeks a third win on the trot in the opener (1.49). The 2m1f handicap chase (4.44) contender Obey The Rules is another looking to follow up a fortnight on from victory at Market Rasen.
Iceman Dennis was disappointing here in March but has leading claims if back to form in the 2m½f bumper (5.19).
Key runner:Obey The Rules (4.44 Stratford)
Back from a break and back to form with a Market Rasen success three weeks ago, beating an in-form rival; 4lb rise should still leave him on a competitive mark and he represents trainer/jockey combination in fine form.
Sir Michael Stoute
40 per cent (6-15)
This year's Derby-winning trainer is having a great season and this week has enjoyed three winners, a second and a third.
Stoute will hope Solid Stone can continue the good run at Group 3 level as he takes on Dubai Honour in the Unibet September Stakes (2.05) at Kempton. He has yet to win at 1m4f but is 2-4 on the all-weather.
Crystal Caprice is related to the yard's former top-level performers Hillstar and Crystal Ocean and will bid for a hat-trick in the mile fillies' handicap at Ascot (4.20). She looks a highly progressive prospect.
Key runner: Crystal Caprice (4.20 Ascot)
Frankel filly who is beginning to fulfil her potential and she was most impressive on her handicap debut at Glorious Goodwood (1m, good), quickening up smartly to collect with plenty in hand; 6lb rise perhaps underestimates her true superiority that day and she's bred to keep improving.
Saturday's race previews:
1.45 Haydock: 'John's really happy with him' – will Reach For The Moon make it as a miler?
2.05 Kempton: can Dubai Honour continue his upward curve and cash in on a huge class-drop?
2.20 Haydock: William Haggas eyeing another valuable prize with progressive filly Tamilla
2.55 Haydock: 'He was unlucky last time' – Old Borough Cup trainer quotes and analysis
3.30 Haydock: 'He has a big chance' – top trainers on their Sprint Cup runners
