'There'll be other days' - unlucky losers on day four at Goodwood

After the false rail and the cutaway were removed and fresh ground made available against the far rail early in the home straight, the scene was set for much more trouble in running than on the first three days. Here’s how it unfolded . . .

Super Superjack

1.50 Goodwood

He was the first on the day to meet trouble and it looked to have cost him a winning chance in the 2m4f handicap. Stuck behind a wall of horses as the winner kicked away, he deserved credit for finishing as close as he did once extricated. He has a decent strike-rate and should be able to make amends.

Blue For You
3.00 Goodwood

He might not have beaten his stablemate Orbaan, who ran out a ready winner, but he’d have likely finished a fair bit closer in the Golden Mile handicap had he not been denied a run for much of the home straight. By the time he’d extricated himself, the winner had gone beyond recall, but he showed a good attitude to claim second place. There’ll be other days.

Sinjaari
3.00 Goodwood

He had turned in his best effort to win at Sandown on his previous start but he had no chance of showing what he could do under his 3lb penalty in the Golden Mile, stumbling at the top of the hill and trapped behind horses all the way up the home straight. This can easily be written off and he’ll be worth another chance, either at York next month or at Newmarket (in the Cambridgeshire) in the autumn.
