Super Saturday: a winner, a second, a third and a fourth to follow in future

Jessica Harrington might have been cleaning up in the Irish juvenile division of late but her unbeaten three-year-old Leo De Fury has looked one of the finest prospects she has unearthed this season.

The three-year-old arrived at the Curragh as an unknown quantity for his debut three weeks ago, but was classy enough to thwart those with previous experience by a comfortable five lengths.

Turning out again at Navan on Super Saturday, the son of Australia impressed again, triumphing by a wide margin ahead of the 89-rated Kaftan and Jack Yeats, who was last seen at Royal Ascot in the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes.

The way he finished both races over 1m2f strongly suggested another couple of furlongs would be within his compass, and Group targets will surely loom before the year is out.

Superlative Stakes, Newmarket, 2nd

The market suggested the Superlative Stakes was predominately between two horses, Godolphin's King's Command and Coolmore's Year Of The Tiger, but neither finished in the same parish as front two Mystery Power and Juan Elcano.

No Nay Never colt Mystery Power secured the last laugh in a pulsating duel with Juan Elcano, but the son of Frankel appealed as a horse with any amount of potential, and a type who could improve past his Newmarket conqueror in time.

With Coventry Stakes form brought to the table courtesy of the more experienced pair of Maxi Boy and Ropey Guest, the front pair deserve the utmost respect for future juvenile riches this season.

The daughter of Kingman faced a stiff assignment pitched in against her elders in the City Walls Stakes at York but was noted making some smart late headway in a bunched finished beyond Copper Knight.

Not beaten far behind Kurious and Garrus when fourth in the Coral Charge at Sandown last time, the Michael Bell-trained filly was squeezed for room at a crucial stage and could have won with a clearer run.

Despite her breeding suggesting she may need further, a stiff five-furlong test appears to suit her well and granted better luck in running, she should be able to break through at Group level.

Summer Mile, Ascot, 4th

Accidental Agent's Lockinge return was as good a seasonal bow as he has ever registered, but in two subsequent starts Eve Johnson Houghton's stable star has blotted his copybook by demonstrating pre-race issues in the stalls.

His Queen Anne no-show when refusing to leave the gates was mystifying and, despite consenting to join the field in the Summer Mile, the five-year-old again squandered his opportunity by missing the break by three lengths.

Finishing that exact margin behind the ill-fated Beat The Bank in fourth, one suspects Accidental Agent would have played a serious hand in the finish with a clean start, and the son of Delegator clearly still possesses plenty of talent.
