Stradivarius v Trueshan? Confirmed runners and riders for the Doncaster Cup
Staying stars Trueshan and Stradivarius are poised to finally clash on Friday as they lead a field of seven for the Group 2 Doncaster Cup.
Frankie Dettori and Stradivarius will bid to land a second win in the 2m2f contest following victory in 2019 and may be set for a first meeting this season with Goodwood Cup winner Trueshan.
The Alan King-trained runner got the better of Stradivarius in the pair's last exchange in October, but have avoided each other so far this season due to differing ground preferences.
Trueshan was a late withdrawal from both the Ascot Gold Cup and the Yorkshire Cup due to the quick conditions while rain-softened ground caused Stradivarius to miss his tilt at a fifth Goodwood Cup.
The going at Doncaster is good to firm for the first day of the meeting but showers are expected over Thursday and Friday.

With last year's winner Spanish Mission set for Australia's Spring Carnival, third and fifth placed The Grand Visir and Eagles By Day return to Doncaster alongside Rodrigo Diaz, who won a handicap at the course in June.
Nayef Road, who was third in the St Leger in 2019, lines up under Andrea Atzeni while Alerta Roja carries bottom weight as the only three-year-old in the field.
The filly was runner-up in a Listed contest in Germany last time out and is set to make her Group race debut under Luke Morris.
Preceding the Doncaster Cup, a field of 11 was declared for the Group 2 Wainwright Flying Childers Stakes (2.10) for two-year-olds.
The market is headed by Al Shaqab Racing's Armor, who was fourth when sent off favourite for the Prix Morny in August, but now drops back to a five furlong trip over which he was an impressive winner of the Molecomb Stakes.
The Richard Hannon-trained colt will take on a competitive field which includes the George Boughey-trained French Group 3 winner Corazon and Julia Graves Roses Stakes one-two Attagirl and Caturra.
