Frankie Dettori primed to dominate on Ladies' Day at the St Leger Festival
The partnership of Frankie Dettori and John and Thady Gosden will be at full strength on Thursday as they team up with leading chances for the two Group contests on Ladies' Day at Doncaster's St Leger Festival.
Dettori is set to ride Inspiral in the Cazoo May Hill Stakes (2.40), and the juvenile filly is odds-on to land her first test in Group company for owners Cheveley Park Stud.
Inspiral and Dettori were easy winners in a Listed race at Sandown last time and will face six runners in the mile Group 2, which was won last year by Gosden and Dettori with Indigo Girl.
The Dettori-Gosden team also hold the leading fancy in Thursday's other Group 2 contest, as French Group 3 winner Free Wind lines up in the Park Hill Fillies' Stakes (3.15).
The three-year-old has won three of her four starts this year, including the Group 3 Prix Minerve at Deauville last month.
Free Wind will face Lillie Langtry runner-up Tribal Craft and Listed winners Save A Forest and Yesyes as Dettori seeks his first win in the contest in ten years.
The biggest pot on offer is in the Weatherbys Scientific £200,000 2-Y-O Stakes (2.10), with 22 juveniles set to do battle.
Last year's winning trainer Roger Varian is seeking back-to-back wins with Jazz Club, who wears first-time blinkers under Ryan Moore while the 2019-winning team of Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy will look to repeat their success with Highclere Stud's Harrow, who is seeking a hat-trick of wins.
