2,000 Guineas favourite Calyx to miss rest of the year with injury
Calyx, unbeaten in two starts as a juvenile and ante-post favourite for next year's Qipco 2,000 Guineas, has been ruled out for the rest of this season after suffering an injury.
The John Gosden-trained colt created a huge impression when winning by five lengths on debut at Newmarket and followed up that victory in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot .

However, the son of Kingman will not run again as a two-year-old.
Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah, said the colt has been sidelined with a bone injury.
He said in a statement: "Calyx has had a setback in training which will rule him out from running for the rest of this season. He is expected to make a full recovery and we will look forward to his three-year-old year."
Gosden added: "I'm inclined to think it's something he picked up in the race [at Royal Ascot]. It needs dealing with but I think he'll be absolutely fine, probably in three months' time.
"The prognosis is therefore extremely good for next year, but frustratingly not for races like the Morny, Middle Park or Dewhurst."
Reacting to the news, bookmakers pushed out Calyx from 6-1 for the 2,000 Guineas, with Betfair Sportsbook and Paddy Power making him a standout 8-1.
Leading potential Classic rivals Advertise, Quorto and Anthony Van Dyck were trimmed in places, with Ladbrokes going 10-1 about the first two (from 12) and 12-1 (from 14) about Anthony Van Dyck.
